<< El Día de Reyes >> Debido a nuestras fuertes raíces españolas, los cubanos celebrábamos el día 6 de Enero como el día que venían los Reyes Magos, Melchor, Gaspar y Baltasar, a entregarnos regalos. Celebrábamos el hecho de los Reyes del Medio Oriente cuando vinieron con sus camellos a entregarle regalos al niño Jesús nacido. Todos los años, el día antes de Reyes, yo sentia una gran alegría anticipada… Esa noche casi que no dormía, pensando si lo que había pedido me lo iban a traer o no, pero siempre me traían lo que había pedido. Había que acostarse temprano para dejar que los Reyes Magos pudieran venir y dejarnos los juguetes casi siempre al pie del árbol de Navidad o cerca de la cama.
Era una sensación incomparable, despertar y correr a buscar los regalos. En fin, el 6 de enero siempre ha marcado el final de las fiestas navideñas, así que amigos, espero que hayan tenido una maravillosa temporada navideñas con sus seres queridos, no obstante el cambio en nuestras vidas ocasionado por la pandemia y que los Reyes les hayan traído muchas bendiciones para este Nuevo Año.!!!!
Because of our strong Spanish roots, Cubans celebrated January 6th as the day the Wizards, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar came to deliver gifts. We celebrated the fact of the Middle East Kings when they came with their camels to deliver gifts to the born baby Jesus. Every year, the day before Reyes, I felt great anticipated joy… That night I almost didn’t sleep, thinking if what I had asked was brought to me or not, but they always brought me what I had asked for. We had to go to bed early to let the Wizards come and leave toys for us almost always at the foot of the Christmas tree or near the bed.
It was an incomparable feeling, waking up and running to get the gifts. Anyway, January 6 has always marked the end of the holiday holidays, so friends, I hope you had a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones, despite the change in our lives caused by the pandemic and that the Kings have brought you many blessings for this New Year.!!!! ·
